Kelvin Johnson Alvarado-Aguilar, 36, turned himself in as investigators sought to locate him in connection to an alleged sexual assault in Woodbridge in 2023, police say.

In October, detectives from the Prince William County Police Department obtained charges in an ongoing investigation regarding a sexual assault that occurred last year.

According to police, the investigation found that a woman was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance, later identified as Alvarado-Aguilar.

While investigating that incident, detectives also learned that Alvarado-Aguilar allegedly held the woman against her will in an altercation in 2022. The investigation leading to his arrest came when she eventually came forward, police say.

The Woodbridge resident was charged with rape and abduction. Alvarado-Aguilar was held without bond and his court date is pending.
